The presentation beyond matter: nanostructures with technological applications” explored the transformative potential of nanostructures and their role in the development of high-performance materials and devices. In a scientific and technological context that demands more efficient, sustainable, and precise solutions, nanotechnology emerges as a strategic field for surpassing the limits of conventional matter. The presentation analyzed the fundamental principles of nanostructures and how their manipulation at the nanometric scale allows for the modification of physical, chemical, and electronic properties, paving the way for new advances in key sectors.
One of the central themes of the conference was the application of these materials in areas such as electronics, where nanostructures enable smaller, faster, and more efficient devices; energy, through the improvement of batteries, solar cells, and storage systems; and biomedicine, with the development of nanocarriers, more sensitive diagnostic tools, and targeted therapies. The importance of smart materials and functional coatings was also highlighted, as they facilitate the creation of highly precise sensors and surfaces with new technical capabilities.
The presentation further emphasized the relevance of interdisciplinary work among physics, engineering, chemistry, and materials science to transform these advances into real and scalable solutions. Challenges related to production, material stability, and potential environmental impacts were discussed, stressing the need for responsible and ethical approaches to their implementation.
