The presentation challenges and opportunities of the hydrogen ecosystem in relation to greenhouse gas emissions analyzed the strategic role of hydrogen as a key energy vector to accelerate the transition toward more sustainable and decarbonized production models. In a global context where the urgency to mitigate climate change demands a drastic reduction in pollutant emissions, hydrogen—especially green hydrogen produced through electrolysis using renewable sources—emerges as a viable alternative to replace fossil fuels in high-demand industrial, logistical, and energy sectors. The speaker explained the technological foundations of the hydrogen ecosystem and its potential to transform the energy matrix through cleaner and more efficient processes.
One of the central themes of the presentation was the identification of the main challenges in implementing this technology, including high production costs, limited transportation and storage infrastructure, the need for clear regulatory frameworks, and the variability in the availability of renewable energy. Likewise, the importance of advancing research, innovation, and technological development was highlighted to improve the efficiency of electrolysis systems, ensure operational safety, and increase the competitiveness of hydrogen compared to other energy sources.
