The presentation "Public Policies and Economies for Life" addressed the complex relationship between political decisions, economic practices, and their impact on quality of life and social well-being. In a global context marked by challenges such as climate change, inequality, and public health crises, it is urgent to rethink traditional economic paradigms and align them with a more integral and humanitarian vision of development.
From this perspective, various key topics were analyzed that integrate economic, social, and environmental spheres to promote sustainable and equitable development. One of the central axes of the discussion was the need for development that meets current needs without compromising the ability of future generations. This implies designing public policies and economic activities that minimize negative environmental impacts and promote the conservation of natural resources.
Another fundamental aspect addressed in the presentation was the pursuit of a more equitable distribution of resources and economic benefits. Public policies that can reduce inequalities and ensure that the benefits of economic growth are fairly distributed among all members of society were discussed, which is especially relevant in a context characterized by alarming levels of inequality that threaten social cohesion and political stability.
Additionally, the presentation explored how public policies and economic practices can improve social well-being in key areas such as health, education, security, and housing. The concrete impact of political and economic decisions on people's quality of life was analyzed, with special attention to the most vulnerable groups.
A central theme of the discussion was the facilitation of citizen participation in public decision-making. It was examined how policies can promote inclusion and empowerment of citizens, ensuring that their needs and perspectives are considered in the design and implementation of economic and social strategies.
In essence, the conference "Public Policies and Economies for Life" focused on how public policies and economic practices can be designed and implemented to improve the well-being and quality of life of people, in harmony with environmental and social sustainability. This field of study stands as a fundamental pillar for building a comprehensive, inclusive, and resilient development model that places people and the preservation of the planet at the center of decision-making.
